Lesson 4 – The Saints Stand Up

A revelation of God’s character leads to greater love for Him. “We need constantly a fresh revelation of Christ, a daily experience that harmonizes with His teachings. High and holy attainments are within our reach. Continual progress in knowledge and virtue is God’s purpose for us. His law is the echo of His own voice, giving to all the invitation, “Come up higher. Be holy, holier still.” Every day we may advance in perfection of Christian character.” (Help in Daily Living p. 50). In Revelation 14, God gives His final messages of love and mercy to the inhabitants of the earth before Jesus returns. Three angels coming down to earth symbolize this movement.

1. What is the first angel’s message? Revelation 14:6-7

Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his ______________________

is come: and _______________________ him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.

2. Why does the Lord ask us to remember the Sabbath day? Exodus 20:8-11

For in six days the Lord made_________________________________ and

____________________,  the ________________, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day. (verse 11)

In God’s final warning to earth, He calls the people of earth to worship the Creator. God’s call is to obedience and to keep His Sabbath day holy. The latter part of Revelation 14:7 is a direct reference to the fourth of God’s Ten Commandments. “The Sabbath will be the test of loyalty, for it is the point of truth especially controverted,” The Great Controversy, p605.

3. What is the second angel’s message? Revelation 14:8

Babylon is ______________________, is _________________________, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.

The word “Babylon” is derived from the word “Babel” which means, “to confuse.” The false end-time religious entities mentioned in the book of Revelation are called “Babylon” because of the “confusion” of doctrines, which exist among them.

4. Why does the Lord call His people out of Babylon? Revelation 18:1-5

Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of

______________________, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.  (verse 2)

“Thousands upon thousands will listen who have never heard words like these. In amazement they hear the testimony that Babylon is the church, fallen because of her errors and sins, because of her rejection of the truth sent to her from heaven.” The Great Controversy p606.

5. What is the message given by the third angel? Revelation 14:9

If any man _____________________ the beast and his image, and receive

his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, the same shall drink of the wine of

the _____________________ of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation.

This message of God, though seemingly harsh, is a message of love. The power underneath this false religious system, or Babylon, is Satan himself. He is the one who introduced sin to our planet. God calls us to come out from under the enemy’s rule. Satan’s rule is at odds with God’s law, including God’s Sabbath commandment. Satan has through the centuries attacked God’s day of worship. In the third angel’s message, God makes a call to honour Him on the seventh day, His day of worship established from creation.

6. What does one of  Satan’s agents do to receive worship? Revelation 13:14

And ____________________________ them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast.

7. What else does this power do to receive worship for the enemy? Revelation 13:15

And cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast

should be _________________________________.

8. How is the wrath of God poured out in the end-time? Revelation 15:1

And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvellous, seven angels

having the seven last ______________________; for in them is filled up the wrath of God.

After the three angels’ messages are proclaimed with power, probation will close for the inhabitants of earth just like the door of the ark was shut in Noah’s day. Everyone would have decided on whose side he or she is. After this, God will pour out the seven last plagues “for in them the wrath of God is complete.”

9. What will happen when the three angels’ messages are proclaimed in the end-time? Acts 2:17,21

And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall _______________on the

name of the Lord shall be __________________________.

10. How will God’s children be distinguished from those who remain in the false religious system of Babylon? Revelation 14:12

Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the

_____________________________________ of God, and the faith of Jesus.

After the three angels’ messages are proclaimed, and the fate of those who remain in Babylon is described, the Apostle John immediately declares that those who have the faith of Jesus will keep the commandments of God. Jesus Himself said, “If you love Me, keep my commandments” John 14:15.

11. Do you want to be part of the group that obeys the three angels’ messages?
