Victims of the June 1st, 2015 Micoud Fire were the beneficiaries of additional assistance for the local Mission of Seventh-day Adventist Churches yesterday, Wednesday, 19th August, 2015. The SDA Mission along with its Community Services Department handed out Cheques respectively valued at EC $1802.54 each to assist five (5) members of the two families affected by the June fire.
The monetary assistance will enable the beneficiaries to secure materials towards reconstruction of their homes. The SDA Mission has made arrangements with the Central Point Ltd in Bexon towards that end. The business owner has agreed to supplement the contribution of the local SDA Church.
This latest contribution marks the third intervention made by the St Lucia Mission of Seventh Day Adventist in response to the Micoud Fire. On Thursday, June 4th, 2015 the church through its Community Services Department made a donation of clothing and food items to the fire victims. Members of the Micoud Ebenezer SDA Church came together in an impressive show of Christian fellowship on Sunday, June 14th, 2015 by providing manual assistance to one of the victims in clearing his site in preparation for rebuilding.
This most recent assistance from the Adventist Church will go some way in moving the June 1st Micoud Fire Victims closer to returning their lives to normalcy. Wednesday’s cheque donation represented proceeds of a national appeal made to member churches on behalf of the Micoud Fire Victims.
