Who We Are

The Saint Lucian body of Seventh-day Adventist believers is organized into a Mission – the first round of autonomous government in the global hierarchical pattern of the organization’s administrative design. Missions are self-governing, but in affiliation with the immediately higher administrative echelon of the ladder, which, in our case, is the Caribbean Union Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, from whence our administrators are elected, and our more important decisions ratified.

The Mission was established in 1998 with Pastor Livingstone Aaron as President and Pastor Johnson Frederick as Secretary-Treasurer. Today, Pastor Roger Stephen is the President and Sis. Rose M. Desir is the Secretary-Treasurer.

Rose Mary Desir was born in the Choiseul community to the late Martha and Gerald Desir.  Being raised in a devout Seventh-day Adventist family, she accepted Jesus at an early age and was baptized at the age of ten.  At eleven, she relocated to Castries to facilitate her attendance at the Seventh-day Adventist Academy.  She became an active member of the Pathfinder club and has served in all areas of uniformed work.

She immersed herself so deeply in the uniformed ministry of the church that the Government of Saint Lucia recognized her sterling contribution and appointed her as Saint Lucia’s Youth Ambassador from 1995-1998.  In December 1995, the Commonwealth Secretariat selected her among a number of Caribbean youth to represent the Caribbean at the UN’s World Youth Forum held in Vienna Austria.  Then in 1996, the Government rewarded her commitment to youth development on the island by bestowing upon her three national awards including the much coveted “Most Outstanding Youth in Saint Lucia” award. She is still active in youth ministry and presently serves as Director of the Orion Masterguide club at the Castries Church.

Rose Mary has accumulated a number of years of professional experience having served as an Income Tax Auditor, General Accountant at the Mabouya Valley Development Project and other private sector establishments both in Saint Lucia and in the USA.  She also served as an online professor of Managerial Accounts for Phoenix University.  Her experience in denominational employment includes the position of Business Teacher at her alma mater the Saint Lucia SDA Academy, as well as Business Manager at both the Saint Lucia SDA Academy, and the St. Croix SDA School.

Her tertiary education was done at Caribbean Union College (now University of the Southern Caribbean) and Andrews University from which she earned an Associate of Science degree (A.Sc) in Business Management, a Bachelor of Science Degree (B.Sc) in Business Education and a Master of Business Administration (MBA). Rose Mary loves the Lord and is driven by her passion for excellence.  Her motto in life is “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”.  She is pleased for the opportunity to serve her constituency in this part of the vineyard and sees herself as a vessel in the Masters’ hands.  She solicits the prayers of all the constituents. Together, there is no limit to what we can achieve.
