Dear Pastor Francis,

It was with great distress and sadness that we at the Saint Lucia Mission of Seventh-day Adventists received the news about the worst hit by the devastating tropical storm (hurricane Erika) in our sister island of the Commonwealth of Dominica on Thursday, August 27, 2015, which caused a death toll of about thirty (30+) persons, left several others seriously affected and caused mass destruction to infrastructure throughout the country.

On behalf of the Saint Lucia Mission and people of Saint Lucia, I would like to express the deepest and heartfelt sympathy of President Johnson Frederick and his fellow Administrators to the people of Dominica, who are undergoing the tragic and traumatic experiences due to the loss of lives of the sons and daughters of the country (and the disappearance of numerous citizens, the full count not yet known). Please convey our expression of sympathy and solidarity to the grieving families of the victims and to all those affected by this unfortunate calamity.

While your island territory and people are undergoing this serious crisis, I assure you that the Saint Lucia Mission is committed and ready to contribute in any possible manner to help overcome the catastrophic impact of this natural disaster and in alleviating the sufferings of the victims on our sister island.

We sincerely pray to Almighty God to bestow mercy on all those who are suffering now and to grant divine comfort and consolation to the bereaved families during this time of immense trial and grief. We continue to pray for Dominica!

Yours sincerely,

Donavan M J. Rene
