Ordination of Ps. Phillip

ordinationOn the afternoon of Sabbath July 6, the Castries church was filled to overflowing as the island church witnessed the ordination of Pastor Lucius Philip who serves in the Anse La Raye District.  The ceremony was presided over by Dr. Kern Tobias, President of the Caribbean Union Conference.

Pastor Philip is a graduate of the University of the Southern Caribbean, in Trinidad, with a BA Degree in Theology, and is presently pursuing an MA Degree in Education.  He is married to Nitha Mauricette, has one daughter Layla Neah Olivia Andis. The couple is expecting a second child.

Pastor Philip is from the Garrand community, son of Helena Philip and the late Randolph Philip.  He accepted Jesus in 1995 and served in various church offices including Sabbath School Superintendent, AY Leader, and Church Elder.  Before pursuing studies in Theology, he conducted three lay crusades.  In 2003, after teaching for ten years, he enrolled at the University of the Southern Caribbean to prepare for his life-long ministry.

Pastor Philip is an avid reader and sports enthusiast .  He did his internship in the Labayee and Castries districts.  After internship, he served as associate pastor of the Castries district.  His first assignment as full-fledged district pastor was to manage the Maranatha and Marchand congregations, where he served for about one year.  He now shepherds the tranquil and picturesque western district of Anse La Raye which comprises of the following churches:  La Croix, Vanard, Millet, and Anse La Raye.  In cooperation with the Holy Spirit, Pastor Philip has led over 400 souls to God during his six years of ministry.  We wish him God’s continued blessings as he forges ahead as an ordained pastor to the worldwide Seventh-day Adventist Church.
